About:
On January 31st, the girls JV and Varsity teams hosted a successful fundraiser for Coaches vs Cancer Night, benefiting the American Cancer Society. The teams worked together to raise money through a variety of fun and engaging events, including t-shirt sales, raffles, a 50/50 drawing, and half-court shooting competitions. Additionally, two local town teams played a scrimmage during halftime, adding extra excitement to the evening. This event has a special history, as it was originally organized by the former boys’ coach, and when the new coach joined the girls’ team, they decided to continue the tradition.
The night was a huge success, raising approximately $1,000, with additional funds still being generated from leftover shirt sales. The girls played a central role in running the event, managing tables, selling raffle tickets, and contributing to the overall success. On top of their hard work, they also delivered an impressive performance on the court, securing a big win to cap off the evening.
This cause holds deep personal significance for the team’s coach, as the coach’s mother had been diagnosed with cancer over the summer. Upon learning about this, the girls rallied together, working tirelessly to make the event a success. Their dedication and character shone through, making the night even more meaningful. Coach Reddington expressed immense gratitude for the girls and the community support that filled the gym. Looking ahead, the coach is excited to make this event an annual tradition and continue raising money for this important cause.
