About:

We have 30 players and 2 managers who will participate.  We typically set up right after school 3:07 and go until the end of the varsity match usually around 7:00-7:30 and then clean up.  Students help by advertising, morning announcements, help with sponsors, set up/decorate the gym, clean up the gym, and of course participate by playing.  This year, we are playing North Andover tomorrow but have played a few different teams.  This game was started to show support for the father/family of one of our senior players who was diagnosed with ALS in 2017 – we saw the speed of the disease impact the father, Rick, throughout the season.  Unfortunately, my father was diagnosed with the same disease in October of that same year.  Both passed in 2018 and we have continued playing the Spike Out ALS match each year as well as our April Break tournament, 4 teams, that play to also raise awareness about the disease and to support ALS One, the organization which helped both my father and Rick.
