About:
The Hawks Baseball is once again bringing its community together for a meaningful cause through Hawks X-Out Cancer: Together for Teddie, a special fundraiser dedicated to supporting childhood cancer research and families facing unimaginable challenges.
This year’s event carries deep significance for the program as it honors Teddie, a young girl diagnosed at an early age with a cancerous brain tumor. Despite enduring multiple rounds of chemotherapy and brain surgery, Teddie continues to inspire those around her through her courage, strength, and resilience.
The Hawks Baseball community has already made a tremendous impact. Since 2024, players, families, and supporters have raised more than $13,622 to support childhood cancer research, and this year’s event has already surpassed its $10,000 fundraising goal thanks to overwhelming community support.
This year, the program is partnering with the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, with proceeds supporting research led by Dr. Pratiti “Mimi” Bandopadhayay, Director of the Dana-Farber Pediatric Low-Grade Glioma Program. Her groundbreaking work focuses on pediatric brain tumors like the one Teddie is battling, helping advance potential new therapies and improve outcomes for children facing rare and complex cancers.
The Hawks X-Out Cancer event will take place on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 12:00–4:00 PM at Xaverian Brothers High School. The afternoon will feature a walk-a-thon, cornhole tournament, silent auctions, raffles, games, and family-friendly activities designed to bring the community together in support of the cause.
Participants will have multiple ways to get involved, including:
- Joining the walk-a-thon
- Participating in the cornhole tournament and games
- Supporting silent auctions and raffles
- Donating through the fundraiser
- Becoming event sponsors
While Teddie’s story remains at the heart of the event, the mission extends far beyond one family. Through teamwork, compassion, and community support, the Hawks Baseball Program hopes to help drive progress toward better treatments and, ultimately, cures for children battling cancer everywhere.
Organizers hope the event will become an annual tradition — a day where families, players, and supporters can come together to celebrate community while making a lasting impact in the fight against childhood cancer.
The program recently shared its gratitude after surpassing its initial fundraising goal, thanking every person who donated, registered, shared the mission, or supported the cause in any way. Even with that milestone reached, the Hawks community continues pushing forward with the goal of making an even greater difference.
Through service, leadership, and compassion, Hawks Baseball is demonstrating the powerful role athletics can play in supporting families, inspiring hope, and uniting communities around causes that matter most.
