About:

Thirteen years ago a few adults in North Andover created a youth track program.
Each year the program got a little bigger, but about 7 years ago it became too much for this small group of adults to handle.
We met and adjusted the program to run as a “school based program” instead of an independent program.
With that, we opened practices up as an opportunity for some of our high school track athletes to give something back to their community.
As a result, we have about 125 of our high school track athletes volunteer their time (90 minutes each practice, three times a week, for 6 weeks).
Pre-Covid the program would be roughly 400 youngsters, however this year we have about 250 participating (grades 4 through 8).
We like to refer to our High School Volunteers as our “secret sauce”.  They provide the structure for practices, however (more importantly) the energy and compassion to make every youngster who signs up feel like they are part of something special.  There would be no Youth Track program in North Andover without our High School volunteers.
