The Becker High School Football team and National Honor Society (NHS) students demonstrated the incredible power of teamwork and community giving, raising an impressive $10,178.80 during the Bulldogs’ annual Tackle Cancer Game on September 18, 2026.
Partnering with St. Cloud Financial Credit Union and St. Cloud Subaru, the Becker community came together to raise awareness and funds for individuals and families affected by cancer.
On October 28, representatives from both businesses proudly presented Becker’s National Honor Society students and Bulldog Football team with a check for $10,178.80, celebrating the success of this meaningful community initiative.
Bulldogs Unite to Tackle Cancer
Becker Football’s annual Tackle Cancer Game has become an important tradition, bringing student-athletes, families, school supporters, and local businesses together for a cause greater than football.
This year’s event received additional support through a partnership with St. Cloud Financial Credit Union and St. Cloud Subaru, helping expand the initiative’s reach and fundraising impact.
Fans were encouraged to show their support by purchasing special pink Becker Bulldogs merchandise, participating in raffles, and contributing donations to the cause.
The event also featured prize drawings during halftime, adding excitement to an evening dedicated to supporting those affected by cancer.
Through the generosity of the Becker community, these efforts helped raise more than $10,000.
Student-Athletes and National Honor Society Students Make an Impact
A highlight of this year’s initiative was the involvement of both the Becker Bulldog Football team and National Honor Society students.
By bringing together students from athletics and academic service organizations, the initiative demonstrated how different groups within a school can unite around a shared mission.
The October 28 check presentation recognized their connection to the community fundraising effort and celebrated the generosity of everyone who helped make the event successful.
The partnership also highlighted the important role local businesses can play in supporting school initiatives and empowering young people to make a positive difference.
Supporting Two Important Causes
Funds raised through Becker’s Tackle Cancer initiative will benefit two organizations working to support individuals and families facing cancer and other serious illnesses.
The Randy Shaver Cancer Research & Community Fund supports cancer research, prevention, treatment, and resources for Minnesota communities affected by the disease.
The TriUnity Foundation, established by St. Cloud Financial Credit Union, works to relieve financial burdens for individuals and families experiencing terminal illness, including cancer.
Together, these organizations provide meaningful support to people navigating some of life’s most difficult challenges.
A Meaningful Season for Becker Football
This year’s Tackle Cancer Game also held special significance for the Becker Football program as it celebrated the legacy of longtime Head Coach Dwight Lundeen, who is concluding his coaching career after 57 years leading the Bulldogs.
Throughout his career, Coach Lundeen has supported cancer research and community initiatives such as Tackle Cancer, helping reinforce the importance of leadership and service beyond the football field.
The evening provided another opportunity to recognize the positive influence of the Becker Football program and its longstanding commitment to the community.
Making an Impact Beyond the Field
Becker High School’s $10,178.80 fundraising achievement demonstrates the remarkable impact that can be made when student-athletes, student organizations, local businesses, and community members unite for a meaningful cause.
Through their annual Tackle Cancer Game, the Bulldogs helped turn school spirit into tangible support for cancer research and families facing serious illness.
Congratulations to the Becker Bulldog Football team, National Honor Society students, St. Cloud Financial Credit Union, St. Cloud Subaru, and the entire Becker community for coming together to make such an incredible difference!
Their efforts are an inspiring example of the positive impact students and student-athletes can make beyond competition as part of the 2026–2027 MSHSL Community Service Challenge.
