In honor of Veterans Day, Columbus Avenue Early Childhood Center kindergarten students in Kim Gartmayer, Samantha Tasso and Heather Tollin’s classes created thank-you cards and crafts to pay tribute to our nation’s veterans.
Kimberly Gartmayer’s students learned about the different branches of the military and the importance of Veterans Day through reading different books and listening to music. They each made a thank-you card and a sign that will be mailed to veterans in Nassau County.
The students in Samantha Tasso and Heather Tollin’s classes created Veterans Day crowns that showcased the different branches of the military. Because the students worked so hard and had fun learning about Veterans Day in their classrooms, they were able to enjoy part of the school day outside proudly wearing their Veterans Day crowns.
