Deer Park High School’s Patriot Club recently organized an activity at the high school to honor the 13 U.S. military personnel killed in Afghanistan on Aug. 26 while overseeing the evacuation of Americans and Afghans. The students set up a display in the main lobby showcase that included the names and photos of the service members. For three days, Patriot Club volunteers handed out black ribbons to students and staff to wear in honor of those who lost their lives in service.
“The tragic loss of these brave individuals reminds us that the freedom we enjoy does not come without a price, but continues to be earned by the sacrifices of the members of our armed forces,” said Patriot Club President Bart Polster.
