East Islip High School’s varsity softball team and coach Jason McGowan participated in their annual Christmas Magic service project on Dec. 3, shopping for children ages 5-12 from the local Youth Enrichment Services program.
“Shopping for these less fortunate kids today and giving them the opportunity to receive gifts Christmas morning brings me so much joy because it allows me to make a positive impact on their lives,” senior Kailyn Bloch said. “The act of generosity and kindness brought us a sense of fulfillment and happiness, knowing that we’ve contributed to making a difference in someone else’s life.”
“Shopping for the kids each year is one of the team’s favorite holiday traditions,” student one Kayla Varga said. “The opportunity to help the community and know we’re making a difference is a great feeling.”
