Harborfields’ Alliance for Community Outreach, or HACO, has yet again taken initiative to donate holiday meals to those in need within the community this November.
HACO, established in 2001 by Harborfields alumni and established as a 501c3 not-for-profit organization in 2009, is dedicated to providing families and their children with basic necessities of food clothing and daily living essentials.
With Thanksgiving around the corner, HACO members created a flyer to raise funds and nonperishable food items for donation. Every $20 donated provides all of the “Thanksgiving fixings,” including baked breads, desserts, pies and cookies, to a family in need.
In addition to community donations, Catherine Purcell’s high school mathematics class hosted their own food drive to help benefit those in need. As of Nov. 3, the team has collected more than $1,000 in donations. With the help of Mrs. Purcell’s class, the club hopes to reach its goal of providing more than 100 meals to Harborfields families this month.
