Robert Moses Middle School’s Turkey Trot 2021 was a huge success, as students were able to raise more than $800 and a tremendous amount of canned goods for the HELP Homeless Shelter and the North Babylon Food Pantry.
Led by eighth grade Digital Research and Community Action classes, students spent the beginning of the year learning the importance of the mind-body connection, and the impact exercise and movement has on their physical and mental health. As a student-centered event, the eighth graders took charge by contacting businesses within the community to assist them in their cause.
The district expresses their appreciation to several volunteers and local businesses who have assisted in the event, including Sayville Running Club, North Babylon and Deer Park Dunkin Donuts locations, Wally’s Bagels, North Babylon Deli and Home Depot.
