The Port Jefferson School District International Club is on a mission. The students, along with advisers Kristin Britt and Jennifer Walling, participated in a heartwarming P.S. I Love You day event. The students took a lot of time and effort writing inspirational and motivational notes to all of the residents at Hope House in Port Jefferson. They also cooked a meal with chicken, sautéed garlic and broccoli and bowtie pasta.
Their efforts recognize P.S. I Love You, an organization that encourages communities to wear purple to foster kindness and a welcoming environment, and educate others that mental health is just as important as physical health. The event takes place on the second Friday of every February, which this year is Feb. 10. The students will deliver the notes and meals for the 70 residents of Hope House to share the awareness and importance of mental health with them.
