Joseph A. Edgar Intermediate School fourth grade student Lilianna Bonacasa was featured on NBC’s “Today” show with Savannah Guthrie to talk about her nonprofit organization Lily’s Toy House, a toy drive that she founded in memory of her father, Staff Sergeant Louis Bonacasa, who was killed in the line of duty in Afghanistan.
Lily and her family met Guthrie outside for a socially distant talk about how her father was the inspiration for her work in collecting toys to give children a special holiday each year. She also visited FAO Schwartz to use some of her organization’s funds to shop for toys for this year, but when she and Guthrie went to pay for the items, she was told that the famed toy store was donating the toys, enabling her to use her funds for other items.
