Mr. Kevin Breslin and Mr. Vincent Nappo’s ninth grade social studies classes at Carle Place High School gave back to the community after learning about the hardships populations have faced during their global study units. They examined the social and economic impacts of rigid class structures and environmental disasters across civilizations while making connections to the hardships people face today.
To address these hardships, students initiated a winter coat drive to collect new and slightly used winter coats for those less fortunate during this time of year. Thanks to the support of the service learning coordinator Mrs. Sandra Dietz, those coats were delivered to the Town of Brookhaven for distribution to those in need.
